mnx5.0: Stumbled upon these accidentally but was very glad that I did – I bake a lot of cakes and always end up buying two separate foil-backed boards as I like the have one the same size as the cake as well as the display board. These are much more cost-effective as the “hidden” board thick enough to support the cake to get it on to the display board but thin enough to be unobtrusive. You can also cover them in foil if you wish but that’s not something I’ve tried yet as I use these as hidden support.
savvy shopper3.0: purchased these as pre holed to stake cakes unfortunately cakes were stacked only a few hours before cutting the board had gone very soft…and stuck solid to the cake..would advise to cover to reduce moisture absorption and prevent sticking
Mak3.0: i ordered these as i had to make 6 pavlovas for a recent family gathering and they were just passable.i put the pavlovas on these disks and then into cake boxes but when decorated there wasnt enough strength so handling was done with great care. if you need a cake board for a heavier cake .eg. black forrest cheesecake or any other heavy cake then i wouldnt recommend these unless you are willing to use most of the pack on one cake. buy a proper board or get a strong fruit box (usually strong for shipping) from your local fruit shop and cut it money saved and a strong base for your cake.
Ntlw4.0: These are ideal for stacking cakes. Very handy to have a pre cut hole in the centre for the central dowel. The only improvement would be to have a bit of a sheen on the underside as it did absorb a bit on the bottom. Didn’t cause any major issues though. Otherwise perfect.
N. Church5.0: Perfect for layer cake I used it for. Have used them both covered in foil as it suggests on the pack and without any cover which also worked fine. Also I needed slightly smaller ones for upper layers so I just cut these down which worked perfectly. Will definitely order again.
